Brothers,

Hello, we wanted to wish everyone a fun and safe holiday as 2015 comes to a close and we move into the new year.

Looking back, we have had a great year implementing a new schedule, reorganizing our executive committee, and completing many hours of service to our council and our community. Going forward, we would like to send out a few reminders as 2016 begins.

First we would like to remind any youth member (under 21) interested in applying for the lodges brand new OA High Adventure Scholarship to please remember that the deadline is January 15th. All additional information on how to apply will be on the lodges' website.

We would also like to remind everyone that our next service weekend will be on March 11th-13th, so please plan on attending in order to provide service to our council’s camp. Anyone eligible to attain Brotherhood, this is your next opportunity. Please take advantage of it; anyone that has been an Ordeal member for 10 months or more is eligible. In addition to the service weekend, Nawakwa Lodge is also planning another service event called Trail Crew. This will take place on April 1st-3rd. At this event participants will learn the fundamentals of trail building and maintenance, as they work to construct and maintain trails in our community, more information will come out soon regarding the location. However, this is an exciting event full of service and fun, so please plan to join us.

We would also like to inform the Lodge that Conclave registration is open! Conclave is our sections annual opportunity to get together for competitions, fellowship, and fun. It includes exciting expos, ceremonies competitions, a pow wow with native American dance competitions, an OA High Adventure area, and much more! This exciting event will be held at Camp Powhatan, hosted by Tutelo Lodge, and Nawakwa wants as many A as possible to enjoy the experience. Registration is open at http://conclave.sr7a.org and if you register by February 1st you are entered for a chance to win some fantastic prizes, including a $100 REI gift card!

We would also like to remind everyone to renew their dues for the 2016 year, which can be done online so you can stay current.

Finally, the National Order of the Arrow, coming out of the National Order of the Arrow Conference in August, announced a new promotion called Operation Arrow. This is promoting the OA’s presence at the National Jamboree in 2017. If you will be a youth member that’s at least 16 and under 21, at the 2017 Jamboree, you may want to consider staffing as an OA member. This is a fantastic opportunity that offers discounted prices to attend one of the largest national events, while having the experience of a lifetime as an OA Staff member. The earlier you sign up, the more likely you are to get a spot in the area you want, and registration is open.

Again, from everyone at Nawakwa Lodge we look forward to seeing you at our upcoming events.

Yours in Brotherhood,
Ryan McNeilly
Nawakwa Lodge Chief
