Brothers

Brothers I first want to say thank you to all of the people that were able to attend both the Carillon in December as well as to the LEC members who made it to the dining hall clean on March 11. As my term is quickly coming to an end I want to thank all of you for allowing me to lead. I have enjoyed my term so far and can’t wait to keep working on improving our lodge together. As you have herd the challenge I have set for the lodge. Trust me I hope to have a bald head by the end of conclave as we would shatter any recorded set by a non-host lodge in SR-7A history.

But I also challenge you as your trying to recruiting your brothers to come to conclave, talk to them about why they should not just come to one event but come to all events. Becoming an active member in our lodge. an active member is someone who coming to functions, pays dues, and look for a role either on chapter or lodge level. I’m not saying you have to become a chairman or adviser, even though we would love to have you in that role. As said at the new member orientation, I just want you to find your niche in your lodge. Trust me it might take me you some time. But once you do find your place, I promise you will not regret it.

As I said find that WHY?

Why do I do this? Why am I taking doing all this extra work? Why?

So as I said when you are signing up for conclave, try to recruit people not just come to conclave but try to help them find their personal why I the lodge.

If you haven’t found it yet… a good start is to ask what you like to do, even if it’s out of Scouts. For example, if you like to act and enjoy public speaking, look in to working with our ceremonies team. If you like being an elangomant, then look at working with the Ordeal committee. I bet there is a spot you have yet to find.

“Ut Prosim” which is Latin for “That I May Serve” this is the moto of my school, Virginia Tech, and I think it fits perfectly into how the order is focused and providing service to people. I know this seems like a cheap plug for my school, but it does have a great meaning. The order will provide opportunities and teach you lessons that will help guide you through life. As you see the impact of service, and how you can provide it to others, this will help you to learn about yourself and guide others in their journey.
