Lodge Status Report

Brothers,

On October 7 our Lodge sent a delegation to the SR-7A Council of Chiefs to talk about planning the upcoming Section Conclave.  Conclave is an event where a little over 1000 Arrowmen from across the six lodges that make up Virginia come together for an incredible weekend.  The next Conclave will be held on April 27-29 at Camp Rock Enon and hosted by Shenshawpotoo Lodge.  You will hear much more from your lodge leadership about it in the coming months, but it's an unforgettable event and we encourage everyone to sign up.  Registration is not yet open, but as soon as it is we will let you all know.

At the Council of Chiefs meeting our delegation provided the following report which details all we have accomplished and our plans going forward since the Council of Chiefs last met (this past April).  This report was given orally to everyone in attendance and submitted in writing to the Section Secretary.  Here it is:

 ---- REPORT----

Nawakwa Lodge has had a successful year since our last Council of Chiefs.  Since then we have held two service weekends, in June and in September.  We have made significant progress on our lodge pavilion project and are closer than ever before to reaching our fundraising goal.  Our Trail Crew has been active at our state parks holding an event in April of this year, and they will be holding another one to perform more service in December.  Also this December, as is tradition, the lodge will give service to the Carillon Nativity Pageant in the city of Richmond.

This summer, many Arrowmen from our Lodge attended the National Scout Jamboree in July, with several serving on staff including the effort of Operation Arrow.  Our summer camp program included an Ice Cream Social for current Arrowmen and a call out ceremony for those soon to be inducted.  We will be looking to add a full time staff member in 2018 whose responsibility is to carry out the OA program at camp on behalf of the Lodge.

Our Fall Fellowship will be held the weekend of November 10-12, where we will be training our Arrowmen to be better leaders, recognizing those who have given service to our lodge, and having a blast with all our Arrowmen.

As we approach Conclave 2018, our Lodge looks forward to meeting our attendance goal and showing the rest of the section how much fun the Arrowmen of Nawakwa Lodge can bring to Conclave. In the long term, Nawakwa is preparing for our centennial by putting together our key leadership for the celebrations of 2019 including the Conclave we will be hosting that year.

Nawakwa has been continuing our tradition of excellent service to Central Virginia and we are continuing to improve our Lodge to serve our community better and turn our Arrowmen into more effective servant leaders.

Respectfully Submitted,

Kyle Hoffmann
