In preparation for its upcoming Centennial celebration, Nawakwa Lodge 3, the Heart of Virginia Council and part of the SR-7A in the Southern Region, is represented in the Southern Hemisphere at McMurdo Station, a U.S. Antarctic research center in Antarctica on the south tip of Ross Island, which is in the New Zealand-claimed Ross Dependency on the shore of McMurdo Sound in Antarctica.  Vigil Honor member Timothy P. Lynch of Nawakwa Lodge displays a miniature version of the Nawakwa Lodge flag and several Lodge flaps in what is believed to be the most southern point any Order of the Arrow Lodge has ever been on land mass.

A framed set of the patches that were taken to Antarctica, to include the actual Flag shown, will be auctioned in order to provide funding for the OA Pavilion being built in honor of the Lodge’s Centennial (1919-2019) at the Heart of Virginia Scout Reservation, Camp T. Brady Saunders, which serves as the home camp to Nawakwa Lodge.  Additional donations towards the Nawakwa Lodge Centennial OA Pavilion can be made at www.nawakwa.org/donate and donations will be recognized with one of four limited edition OA Pavilion Patch gift sets based on the level of donation provided.
